Read Before Saving - Important Info!

TL;DR

  1. This is WIP, can be unstable, save compatibility and objects could change between updates.
  2. MORE OBJECTS = LESS PERFORMANCE
  3. CLEAN YOUR ROOM!

Warning About Saving

This new feature is a work in progress! This means bugs and weird things can happen, and at this phase your current save might become incompatible after any EmuVR update, but we'll always try to avoid that.

In future updates, new game media formats will eventually replace the old generic cartridges (like the new VHS), so they might shift positions slightly (or even explode!) when loading an older room save, because of their new shape and size.

Saving your room will not save your current games' states, you need to save them as usual. When loading, they'll be powered off.

WARNING: The more objects exist in the room, the less performance you will have. If you create lots and lots of objects and games, you'll need a more powerful PC. That used to be mitigated before the room saving feature existed, because everything vanished every time you quit EmuVR.

But now, if you forget a CD or a pizza box laying around hidden in some spot, whenever you load it back, it will continue rendering forever, using your resources even if it's behind something.

With great power comes great responsibility. All that means: Clean your room!

Instructions

To open the Room Saving menu, press Menu button, click the Options tab, then the Save / Load Room submenu.

You'll see the Default Room slot plus five save slots, and the item counter at the top.

Hovering each save slot with your pointer will show tree buttons, Save, Load and Clear. You'll see a confirmation button when clicking one of these buttons, to prevent accidental actions overwriting your data.

When saving, you will overwrite your previous data in that slot.

Your save will store your current objects, time of day, and ceiling lamp state.

If you removed a game file since your previous save, it simply won't show up in the loaded room.

Every time you save, an isometric "pixel art" thumbnail will be exported to EmuVR\Saved Data\Rooms\ for you to share anywhere you like.

When loading the Default Room, some objects, random consoles and games will be spawned with it. You can disable them in the Settings Menu, this is a quick way to create an clean empty room.

The latest slot you save or load will be automatically loaded the next time you start EmuVR.
